Agile Nation

Aim of the Project

The aims of the Agile Nation project are to promote gender equality, support career advancement and contribute to a reduction in the gender pay gap.

Project Activity

The project will support productivity and progression in employment by utilising modern workforce practices and promoting flexible working.  Women will be encouraged and helped to achieve their full potential in the workplace through a programme of training and mentoring, a training allowance scheme and quality part-time opportunities.  Help will be given to employers to encourage them to address inequalities in the workplace and to implement work/life balance and flexibility in the workplace through organisational mapping, implementation of ICT to allow remote working and an exemplar employer award. The project will collaborate with educators and advisors to address gender stereotyping and the promotion of equality and diversity in early years education.

Agile Nation is an innovative project which will create a Virtual Centre of Excellence to gather intellectual capital and providing best practice advice to policy makers, employers, educators and individuals on matters of gender equality and flexible working.  The Virtual Centre of Excellence will offer an interactive portal to facilitate remote working for individuals and to act as a one-stop shop for gender, equality in employment and flexible working/work-life balance issues in Wales.   During the course of the project programmes of research will contribute to the centre of excellence knowledge bank and chart the impact of the projects targeted initiatives.

Outcomes

The Agile Nation project will assist 2790 women to progress in employment and 610 employers to focus on equality & diversity and flexible working initiatives and will be rolled out across the convergence areas of Wales.  The Virtual Centre of Excellence will be a legacy of best practice for Wales
