Women in Management Network Event

9th February 2012

We are delighted to welcome Betty Campbell MBE

Betty Campbell MBE has lived all her life in Butetown and takes the honour of being the first black Headmistress in Wales.

Betty’s ambition as headmistress of Mount Stuart School for 28 years was to campaign to take the school from being housed in a “temporary” terrapin building, to a brand new school built fit for purpose. Betty achieved this in 1992

When retired the community nominated and raised funds for Betty to compete with all the main parties at the Local elections. Betty stood and won as an Independent candidate and represented Butetown for 10 years.

Betty joins us to share how she transformed a school community and took a big idea with small resources to successful realisation.
