Chwarae Teg Debates - Engaging with Women in Wales

Celebrating International Women's Day 2010

To mark this year's International Women's Day, Chwarae Teg hosted three debates to find out what women in Wales really think about issues relating to equality and the economy.

Debates were held in three locations across Wales - Cardiff, Newcastle Emlyn and Colwyn Bay - from Tuesday 9th March to Thursday 11th March. Delegates were drawn from a wide range of organisations and each group explored the following topics:

  • Women - Big Spenders, Low Earners: what role do women play in the economy?
  • Where's the Care in Career? : women's role as carers both today and in the future

The outcomes from each debate are now available to view online. Click here to view the Agreed Statements from our delegates in South Wales, West Wales and North Wales.

Thanks to everyone who took part in making the debates a huge success

What happens next?

In the coming weeks, Chwarae Teg will produce a report collating all debate findings into one comprehensive document. To receive notification of when this report will be available for download online please email john.jackson@chwaraeteg.com

Have Your Say and Host Your Own Debate

Engaging with women and exploring key issues is central to the work of Chwarae Teg. Our policy and research is always based on practical evidence and shaped by the views of real women, living and working in Wales.

To help give women across Wales the opportunity to join in the debate we have prepared a guide to running your own debate which can be viewed by clicking here. By running a debate you will be helping to shape the future of our work and helping to ensure that the women of Wales have the opportunity to have an input in developing the agenda for women's issues in Wales
